How It Works

When a patient visits their healthcare provider and needs an OTC product (such as a thermometer, wound care supplies, or knee brace), the provider can recommend specific products through our platform. Here's the process:

  1. The provider logs into their authenticated EMR system where Wrapped Health is integrated.
  2. During the office visit, the provider obtains verbal consent from the patient to send them a text message with product recommendations.
  3. The provider selects the recommended products and initiates the SMS through our platform.
  4. The patient receives a text message from Wrapped Health containing a secure checkout link.
  5. The patient can tap the link to view the recommended products and complete their purchase if they choose.
  6. Products are shipped directly to the patient's door.

SMS Opt-In Process

Opt-In Type: Verbal consent, obtained in-person during the clinical visit.

Patients must provide explicit verbal consent before receiving any SMS messages from Wrapped Health. This consent is obtained by the healthcare provider or their staff during the patient's office visit, before any message is sent.

Verbal Consent Script

The following script is used by healthcare providers or their staff when obtaining verbal consent:

Provider/Staff:

“Based on your visit today, I'd like to recommend some over-the-counter products that may help with your care. We use a service called Wrapped Health that can send you a text message with a link to view and purchase these products.

If you agree, you will receive one text message from Wrapped Health with a checkout link for the recommended products. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile phone plan.

You can reply HELP to any message for assistance, or reply STOP at any time to opt out and stop receiving messages.

Do you consent to receive this text message with your product recommendations?”

Patient:

“Yes, I agree.”

Provider/Staff:

“Great, you'll receive a text message shortly with a link to view your recommended products.”

How Consent Is Documented

When a patient provides verbal consent, the following information is recorded and stored:

  • Timestamp: The date and time when consent was obtained.
  • Provider/Staff ID: The authenticated user who obtained consent and initiated the message.
  • Patient ID: The patient's identifier within the EMR system.
  • Consent Confirmation: A record that verbal consent was obtained before the message was sent.
  • Message Details: The content of the message sent, including the checkout link.

This consent record is stored in our system and linked to the patient's encounter in the EMR, providing an auditable trail of consent for each SMS sent.

Message Details

Message Frequency: Patients receive one (1) text message per product recommendation session. Messages are only sent when a provider initiates a recommendation during a clinical visit.

Message Content: Each message contains a secure link to view and purchase the recommended products. Messages are transactional in nature, related to the patient's healthcare visit.

Message and Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply depending on the patient's mobile phone plan.

How to Opt Out or Get Help

Patients can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying to any message with:

  • STOP — To unsubscribe and stop receiving messages from Wrapped Health.
  • HELP — To receive assistance and support contact information.

After a patient sends STOP, we will send a one-time confirmation message acknowledging their opt-out and will not send any further messages unless the patient provides consent again during a future clinical visit.
